District #8 was already active by 1848, serving the part of Minerva located across the Hudson River near the end of 14th Road in North River. While it likely existed earlier, 1848 is the first confirmed reference. In 1866, District #8 was divided, and part of its territory became District #11. However, this division wasn’t formally recorded until 1871, when Adam Armstrong Jr., School Commissioner of Warren County, and T. T. Shaw of Essex County's 2nd District officially recognized the change. Together, Districts #8 and #11 encompassed all Minerva land west of the Hudson. In 1915, following a realignment of town boundaries, both districts ceased to be part of Minerva.
