Mable Jones Scholarship Award

Mable Merryfield Jones Scholarship Fund
Clarence and Mabel Jones Picture
Clarence and Mabel Jones
Since its inception in 1955, the  Minerva Historical Society has given scholarships to seniors from Minerva Central School who demonstrate outstanding achievement.  Wishing to honor the memory of Mabel Merryfield Jones with a lasting memorial, the scholarship fund known as the Mable Jones Scholarship was created in her honor.  While honoring Mabel, the grant provides a continuing benefit to our community.
Mabel Jones was a founding member and four time president of the Minerva Historical Society, and contributor to the publication of Minerva 1817-1967 and the Supplement 1817-1985.  She was the creator and principal author of the Quarterly, while serving as Town Historian.
In April 2003, a sizeable contribution was received for the Mable Jones Scholarship fund from the estate of W. Gordon Bowie who was Treasurer of the Historical Society from 1986 - 1991.
